An alternative version of a Farmhouse scene I created for a test at a videogame company. I started with Unreal Engine 5.2 and later upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.3 to take advantage of the new updates in Nanite and performance improvements. The forest was procedurally generated using PCG, and in UE5.3, there are new options that optimize the shadows, especially with the foliage, resulting in significantly improved performance compared to previous versions. The Farmhouse is modular and designed as a Player Level Actor, with every asset in the scene using Nanite, and most objects are instanced for efficient memory usage. I also designed some materials, such as the water and the caustics, and the Farmhouse itself was entirely created by me. I modeled it in Maya and Zbrush, and painted the textures in Substance Painter. I created also some of the particles like the fog and the fireflies, (not the butterflies).
